Five people stood outside Museo Tamayo and clapped every time a person or a group of people entered or exited the Museum’s doors. The piece aimed at transforming a simple action like crossing or entering an Institution’s doors. Ritualistic and democratic in nature, clapping is an autonomous, collective language transformed by progress and modernity. The piece questions if clapping’s hidden power structure is given by the space (private or public) in which the act has the possibility to occur.
reflejo was part of ÓPERA, a project by Satélite, composed of seven pieces by seven artists, exploring notions of sound, questioning the position of power in private and public spaces.
